How your piadina is made

Every piadina is made fresh for you. By hand, on the hot plate, in just a few minutes. Our dough is purely vegan. And cleanliness is our top priority.

Fresh dough is made from scratch every day and rolled out before your eyes. Vegan, with no preservatives.

The dough is baked crisp on the hot plate. If you want mozzarella, it goes on now so it melts evenly.

What is a piadina?

Loved for over 3,000 years. Today at our stand on the Marktplatz.

The piadina was invented as early as 1200 BC. A thin, unleavened flatbread from Italy's Romagna region, baked on a hot plate and filled in over a thousand ways. We set up our stand on Basel's Marktplatz for the first time in 2005. Since then we have stood in the same spot, Monday to Saturday. In sunshine, rain and snow.
Every supplier is chosen personally. Our meat is imported directly from Italy. Tomatoes and basil are cut fresh every morning. We clean and disinfect our machines and work surfaces daily. Our vegan dough is made to our own recipe.
Order whatever your heart desires at the stand. We will make it happen.

Our piadina stand is a family business. Father, mother and son work side by side at the stand, every day. No seasonal staff, no corporation, no rotating shifts. Once you have been here, we will recognise you next time.

Our slicing machine has been at the stand since day one. Any cold cut you like is sliced wafer-thin to order, slice by slice, right in front of you. No pre-packaged cold cuts from the freezer.

Yes. We have several vegetarian fillings such as the Piadina Caprese. Vegan combinations are possible too. Just tell us at the stand what you would like, and we will put it on.
On Basel's Marktplatz, opposite the town hall. Just a few steps from the Marktplatz tram stop. Follow the scent of freshly baked dough.
Usually 3 to 5 minutes. The dough goes on the hot plate while you order. Then your piadina is filled just the way you want it. Even at busy times, we keep things moving.
Yes, we offer catering for events. Live preparation on site, from 40 people. Space required: 6 x 5 metres, power supply 380V / 32A or 16A. Please fill in the contact form.
Yes, every year at the Basel Herbstmesse on Petersplatz. Rain or shine, we have the right piadina for you throughout all 18 days of the fair.
Yes, Monday to Saturday in any weather. Sun, rain, snow. The stand only stays closed during storm warnings or on public holidays.
Every supplier is chosen personally. All cold cuts are sliced fresh to order on the slicing machine. The cold chain is maintained right up to the hot plate.
